Buccaneers & Brassers is a combination of fancy dress party, masked ball, participation game and single-mingle. It is for unattached persons only - couples and groups are discouraged from participating - and you must be over 21 years of age.

Running over a full week or a weekend, participants book into the venue - either a hotel or cruise ship - where they are registered and briefed on the game. Once settled in they then get into costume and mask in their room and return to the game area to start the fun.

The rules are simple and few, but must be followed - you must keep your face masked and your identy secret whenever you are in the game zone; outside this zone you are free to mix and mingle as usual but only out of costume and mask - you must keep your real self separate from your character so that other players don't identify you or connect you. There are penalties for getting found out, and prizes for discovering true identities. Part of the excitement of the game is in being anonymous.

Players approach each other, male to female, female to male - equal opportunity! A player approached is obliged to spend five minutes with each approacher - outright refusal is a breach of game rules and is penalised. Each player is issued with a number of items which together identify him / her and provide his / her contact key. The objective of the game is to swap and collect such items by negotiation - trading other players' items you have collected to gain those of the player you want. Once you have enough items to win the player's contact key, you can claim a rendezvous with that person outside the games area, and out of your respective characters.

During the game - which is non-stop throughout the game period - food and drink are continuously available, as are dancing and other entertainments. The environment is that of a high-quality nightclub with mind-blowing computer-controlled lighting effects. Special negotiation booths are available in which each player is covered in a light silk drape so that while they can see out, other players cannot see which characters are negotiating with which others. The game is played by making alliances and breaking them, by gaining your objectives and by doing so before your competitors, if any.

Prizes are offered for best costume and other achievements; but player's must wear the same costume whenever they are gaming so that others may recognise them from session to session and from day to day. Outside the game area players can take a break in the delightful restaurants, bars and by the poolside - as themselves.

The game is exciting, fun - and sexy.
